Amazing and very interesting production, gripped me from first to last minute. Really enjoyed the way the encounter at the fairy oak is framed. Special mention to the Prince's costume design, loved it!

Della Traviata mi piace molto il primo atto,quello dove Violetta prende consapevolezza della pericolosità di Germont e del suo sentimento a lei estraneo,la donna vuole cedere al lusso dell' amore ma forte è in lei il dubbio ( che poi si avvera) della sventura che questo le causerà,meglio il godere di una voluttà sterile che però sa offrire agio, spensieratezza e libertà.

The sets and costumes were low budget, but the music was ravishingly sung and played. Thais is Massenet's Tristan with intense passions and a fatal attraction. Veronika Dzhioeva brought Thais to life with her beauty and her lovely voice. Ilya Silchukov was wonderful as the desperate Athanael who found love only to lose it. A very satisfying performance. Quite unfortunate that the audio and video are out of sync during the last 15 minutes.

The soprano sang her aria beautifully near the beginning of Act 2, even if she didn't sing the high note at the end that can be so spectacular. But this soprano doesn't have the range of a Beverly Sills. The meditation was beautifully played even though I had hoped the conductor would have used the chorus toward the end of it which can add so much while singing softly in the background as in the recording by Anna Moffo. Very unfortunate that the audience began their applause before the end of the meditation.

One of the most beautiful operas ever written given a lovely performance with attractive production design and very high quality soloists. Ilya Silchukov carried most of the first Act with his excellent baritone. Tenor Oliver Kuusik and soprano Veronika Dzhioeva both gave very enjoyable performances as did the basso Vladimiras Prudnikovas.

Î'm normally not in favor of rearranging the structures of scores - but this one is highly compelling: after the prelude, with Germont not quite daring to decorate Violetta's grave with flowers, Denisova wonderfully performs the rarely sung SECOND stanza of "Addio del passato". It is followed attacca right into the coro d'introduzione. The chorus itself is done at such a breakneck speed that it could almost be rock'n'roll! Somehow, this production indeed breathes renewed life into one of Verdi's greatest masterpieces!

I have to take back the reservations I expressed about Anna Denisova's "Sempre libera" - she is a CONSUMMATE artist, both as a singer and an actress, and I'm sure we will be hearing marvellous things from her in the future! It is amazing what "little" Lithuania can put onstage!
